Bahla state

Introduction

AL-Dakhiliya regoin which is 200 KMs far from Muscat Governorate includes eight states namely : Nizwa , Sumail, Bahla, al Hamra, Manah, Adam, lzki and Bidbid

Population:

The number of inhabitants in Bahla is about 47 thousand people

Description:

It is an attractive state for tourists because of its gentle climate, clear air and fragrant trees, and visitors can enjoy the opportunity to marvel at its amazing rock formations, particularly along the course of Wadi al Naht

Renowned Industries:

Bahla state is renowned for pottery industry , gold industry, silver industry,copper industry , daggers industry and swords industry

Archaeological of Bahla state

Bahla state is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Sultanate of Oman such as Bahla fort

Bahla Fort is one of four historic fortresses situated at the foot of the Djebel Akhdar highlands in Oman. Its walls and towers were built in adobe in the 13th and 14th centuries.

Bahla Fort, the first site in Oman to figure on the World Heritage List is a landmark in the Bahla oasis. This oasis region owes its prosperity to the Banu Nebhan, the well-known tribe in the area from the 12th to the end of the 15th century. As the World Heritage List note mentions: “The ruins of the immense fort, with its walls and towers of unbaked brick and its stone foundations, is a remarkable example of this type of fortification and attests to the power of the Banu Nebhan.” It must be emphasised that the Bahla Fort is on the List of World Heritage in Danger.

Restoration work on the fort has now been going on for several years. The Mining Museum in Bochum, Germany provided photogrammetric records of the fort to help in the work of restoration. The Omani government has agreed to finance the entire restoration work. When the Bahla Fort is finally restored and thrown open to the public the country will have another superb addition on the list for tourists to visit. Even today, tourists going to Jabrin stop outside the walls of the fort and take pictures of the necropolis.

Additional Information:

In Bahlastate there is an old market, this market has retained its original character, and still today it seems a busy market and sells Omani products as well as imported goods. The tree in the middle of the market is about hundreds of years old, local people the market known as SUQE BAHLA.

Conclusion:

Even though there is alot of information about this state yet I left the rest to you (Respected Reader ) to get very much eager to visit Bahla state
